REPORTING

Questions asked by Israeli Navy:
1--Yacht Name
2--Flag
3--Number of Crew and Nationality 4--Colour and Length
5--Course, Speed and Position
6-- Last Port and Time of Departure (Jounieh at ____)
7-- Destination and ETA ( Haifa Carmel Yacht Club at ____)
8-- Rally Number

Contact the Israeli Navy once you are within Israeli waters on CH 16 and they will tell you which channel to use. Israeli waters extend 25 miles from their coast. Keep calling, making announcement every 5 miles until you get a reply. You will probably get a reply about 20 miles out from Haifa but they have been listening before this. They will want the boat name, flag and rally number of the yacht and number of people on board. Make sure that you can spell the name of your yacht phonetically. They will then continue to follow your progress until you enter Haifa Bay. You may also be met by a gunboat that will also ask you the same questions.
When sailing at night, Israeli gunboats will not show up on your radar. They may suddenly appear near you and turn on their lights. They are very protective of waters around Israel and have a wonderful radar system. They may also ask if there are boats around you and their EMYR number. The Navy will have received a detailed list of the EMYR yachts beforehand and they are only checking that you are who you say you are. Keep your radio on the whole time. Keep the dual watch on 16 and your group channel. In Israeli waters, you must stay a minimum of 6 miles off the coast and there are many ‘prohibited’ areas.
Reporting within the groups according to Group Leaders instruction.
Group Leaders to report to Rally Committee after checking the group yachts.
