Over the first 17 years the Rally has been fortunate to have the assistance of three different Commodores.

The first was Dr Mursel Savic of the yacht Serazad who led the fleet on its earliest adventures to foreign lands.

He was very capably followed by Muhittin Oney, a highly recognised and distinguished sailor. Muhittin Oney has passed away two years ago and we keep his name in our hearths.

In the past for 14 years the rally has been under the leadership of Teoman Arsay with his yacht S/Y MAT. He showed endless patience and good humour not only with the authorities along the route but also with the participants.

The Committee and participants thank these three sailors for the wonderful example they have set for us to follow.
