Bozcada

Good Morning

We had another great sail from Mureffte to the island of Bozcada the current was a wonderful help we had 10.5 knits on the clock at one point.

All boats arrived safely between 1700 and 1800 we were met on the Quayside as usual by Sherif Ali who runs the harbour for the municipality over our last three visits we have got to know him and he is a great character.

Our rep Murrat and his assistant were also on the dock to take lines a generally assist.

For those of you who do not know it is one of Turkey’s only two inhabited islands with the exception of those in the sea of Marmarra and is dominated by a Genoese Castle that has been restored.

Bozcada is also famed for its local produced wine (more about that later)

This was the first time that boats had to Med Moor much hilarity was obtained from our American friends who had a little trouble nothing serious but proved some fun for 20 mins.

Some interboat entertaining before dinner meant that we all had a smile on our faces and a wobble in the walk.

Dinner was provided by the municipality at a local restaurant and was hosted by the Island Governor  Mr. Bilian (not sure if that’s the correct spelling)

We had a really nice meal and met a lot of people including an architect who packed in his practice and is now making wine here.

I mentioned earlier that Bozcada is renowned for its wine and a fair number were sampled last night.

The Governor gave a really positive speech wishing the rally participants fair winds and inviting us back again.

He was keen to promote the island as they get very few foreign tourists and the island has much to offer including some of the best diving in Turkey (the water is particularly clear) although a little to cold for your truly.

Ok that’s all for now we have a following wind at the moment and some boats are flying kites. We also have dolphins looks like another good day for our trip to Ayvalik were we are looking to seeing our good friends Ugel and Ismail.

Well time to go now catch some rays doze a little and try a second breakfast.

Sorry I didn’t mention that we were all giving fresh bread and croissants on our departure this morning.

We also received a complimentary bottle of wine from the Corvus win yard.
